Ratings and reviews help a ton, which is why (most) YouTubers with a zillion subscribers (still) do the Like, Comment and Subscribe dance. Remember when the world (re)discovered Plastic Love by Mariya Takeuchi? With each thumbs up and reply the egregore of that song grew and grew
